If you are interested in doing an Honours, Masters or PhD project in the Plant Systematics Group, please email Mike Bayly, Andrew Drinnan or Jo Birch. We don’t usually expect students to have their own project ideas (especially at Hons and Masters level). Generally, we will suggest research projects that are aligned with our current funding, so that we can more easily cover the costs, but we are interested to hear any research proposals you might have. For PhDs, in particular, you need to be committed to any project that you choose (it can be a long haul!), so it helps, at the outset, if you have a clear idea of the sorts of things you’d like to do.
Note: we currently (April 2017) have a PhD studentship on offer. See here for details.
If you are interested in systematics, we recommend the following undergraduate subjects.
- BIOL10001 Biology of Australian Flora and Fauna
- BOTA20004/BOTA90005 Flora of Victoria
- BOTA20002 Plant Biodiversity
- BOTA30002 Plant Evolution
